The procedures for releasing an apartment before the lease expiration date on a lease are as follows:
The release fee is equal to one month’s rent and must be paid before apartment is posted for lease. Tenant is responsible for rent until a new lease is obtained.
The fee is for advertising, extra paperwork and turning the unit at an unscheduled time.
Once the release fee is paid and the Lease Expiration Form is signed. Lewis Properties will post the apartment to our website and all advertising sites to try to obtain a new lease. This lease will go through the end of your lease term if it’s before January 1st.*
* This is only valid through January 1st of each year. After the 1st of January, a new tenant must sign a lease through July of the NEXT year.
